Campus Status

IPFW has collaborated with local government and health authorities to establish criteria for closing the campus in the event of an influenza pandemic. If governement authorities determine there is such a pandemic, the university will be required to suspend classes and other pubic gatherings on campus.

IPFW will announce the status of campus operations here as well as through other communications.

Campus Status during Pandemic Levels

1	Low pandemic risk Normal campus operations Preparedness planning	Human infections with a new subtype No human-to-human spread (or only rare instances of spread due to close contact)
2	Elevated pandemic risk Normal campus operations Intense preparedness planning	Small cluster(s) with human-to-human transmission Spread is highly localized
3	High pandemic risk Preparations to suspend campus activities/classes	Large cluster(s) but still localized May not yet be fully transmissible from human to human Substantial pandemic risk
4	Pandemic period Classes and public events canceled	World Health Organization formally declares pandemic of flu virus anywhere in the world. Pandemic is sustained. Efficient human-to-human transmission formally declared in multiple major U.S. metropolitan areas or in the Midwest.
5	Pandemic period Campus closed Essential personnel only	Pandemic with sustained and efficient human-to-human transmission is formally declared in Indiana; Or, an appropriate state or local government agency requests that IPFW reduce to critical operations
6	Pandemic period over Campus re-opens Campus operations resume	Appropriate government agencies declare pandemic is over. IPFW will follow state guidelines when considering resuming classes.
